過労死(KAROSHI)

Karoshi is Japanese big issue now.
Karoshi means death from overwork.

A woman died because of this few month a go. She worked more than 20 hours a day include weekend.

It is Article
http://www.citylab.com/work/2016/09/japans-war-on-overwork/500567/

Without Japanese, most people keep working time.

「why Japanese work a lot?」

In my opinion, this is 「the Japanese culture」.

After World war Ⅱ, Japanese economy was falling down. Japan was poor country at that time.
Japan need innovation, so they worked as hard as they can. Since they worked a lot, they believed that need of the day is to promote the development of industries. Japanese worked a long time one day. After that, Japanese economy develop at high speed. they believed that working overtime is the way to success life.

However, this idea is old.
The modern time, the person who gets a lot of information early, makes time management is winner, I think.

The time of the day is limited. We need to think of how to use the time effectively.

My best friend's father died because of overwork. I don't want to increase Karoshi more.

If I were prime minister in Japan, I would make holiday for one month for working people, and make time management class in school, increase English class lol

Work life balance is important.

I hope that all Japanese will be happy with good work life balance.

straight man is important in Japanese comedy

I watch US TV comedy show. My friend suggest that watching comedy is good for improving listening English and understanding American joke. I watch comedy in youtube everyday. My favorite comedian is Conan. He is so funny.

Other funny comedian my friend's favorite is
 Norm MacDonald
 David Letterman
 Louis CK
 Jimmy Kinmel

American comedy is funny, but it is different from Japanese joke and American joke.
We have different tastes in humor. I want to understand American jokes.

Most Japanese comedian have team, most team have two people and one person tells a funny story, then the other person feeds him his lines. A person who tells a funny story is funny man.
A person who tells feeds him his lines is straight man. The most important person for making the audience laugh is straight man. In Japanese comedy , timing for feeding his lines is everything.

Best Japanese comedy team is ダウンタウン(だうんたうん) so funny comedians. Popular TV is 「ガキの使い」(がきのつかい)

And, other my favorite comedian is

Ken Simura(しむらけん). He is both strait man and funny man.
He have a lot of TV show. My favorite is 「バカ殿様」(バカ殿さま)and 「志村軒」(しむらけん)

It's so funny. My friend watch this TV show for studying Japanese.

Also, 明石家さんま(あかしやさんま), he is a very very straight man. He have show alone like american comedian.

When I miss Japanese TV show, I watch it Lol

通勤ラッシュ=commuter rush

Every morning, I got annoyed and went to office in Tokyo when I lived in Japan.

We have commuter rush around 8:00 AM.

It is time to go to office for business people.

We say, 「通勤ラッシュ」、tu-kin rassyu

Most people try getting on a train.

For us, It is super terrible, dangerous time like this video.

https://youtu.be/n5j6PeyFJAo

Station stuff help people get on a train. He push, push and push・・・

Transportation system in Japan is very great. Train comes every other minute.

If I miss a train, I can get on 2 minutes later.

However, people try to get on a train, even if they know that train comes soon.

On the train, we can't move, and it is difficult to breath.

Today, I experienced wired situation.

I usually go to school around 8:00 AM. It is commuter rush time in Boston.

There are crowded, but most people don't get on a train.

There are a lot of space in a train, but people do not get on and wait next train.

If  they miss a train, they need to wait about 10 minutes.

I don't want to wait 10 minutes.

Are Japanese people impatient?

Nothing ventured nothing gained

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Japanese has same meaning idiom.

We say,

虎穴に入らずんば虎子を得ず(こけつにはいらずんばこじをえず)

It means that you cannnot catch a tiger's cub unless you enter the den.

If you have some dreams or goals, you need venture.

Ideal life is nothing easy way.

Make Turkey ramen !!

After thanksgiving, we had a lot of leftover. I came up with cooking turkey ramen with leftover of turkey.

How to cook it

1. Don't throw turkey bone. Boil few hours. In my case, boiled 6 hours.

2 Add salt, sesame oil. If you have Chinese soup, more tasty.
I put in this Chinese soup, but I have never seen this seasoning in the US market. I brought
from Japan. This seasoning is super useful. I use it when I cook fried rice, soup etc. If you do
   not have, don't care.

3 Put ramen for 3 minutes. On the plate, top with turkey, egg, green onion etc.

This ramen soup is based on salt only. don' t have chemical seasoning, a lot of collagen.

I was so surprised . Turkey ramen was soooo yummy!!

Super easy, and delicious food, ramen.

I'm love it!!!!  Japanese soul food lol
