Japanese food in Bogota

I am in Bogota now.

I started traveling in South America from 27th.

I met my friend and staying at her apartment.

We met in SF 1 year ago in Kaplan.

I could not believe that we met in Bogota.

We will spend new year with her family, so we celebrate together.

In Columbia, people eat 12 grapes and ask for wishes for each grape.

I will experience new year in Colombia style.

And I wanted to cook Japanese food for them.

I could find some Japanese seasoning in the super. I can cook Japanese food!!

My friend loves Japanese food, so she took me to a Japanese restaurant.

Japanese food become more popular in Colombia!!

I'm sooo happy!!!!

Ippudo in NY!!

Finally, I went to Ippudo in NY.

I love Ippudo, and there are many people and had long line.

Long time no eat, real Japanese ramen.

I am sooooo happy.

I was full, so I could not have 'kaedama'

Kaedama means noodle refill.

If you want more noodle, you can order ' kaedama'

Japanese hot dog

Hot dog　is traditional food in the USA.

Recently, Japanese hot dog is also popular in USA.

Hot dog is sandwiched sausage.

Japanese hot dog is sandwiched other food.

I tried cooking Japanese hot dog.

I sandwiched fried chicken, egg and mayonnaise, meat.

I like egg and mayonnaise. I will fat. 

I need exercise.  

豚の角煮～ Japanese style braised pork～

Today's dinner

豚の角煮 buta no kakuni

buta means pork , kakuni means braise

preparation

 pork back ribs, Japanese radish, carrot, ginger, sake (if you have) water 200 ml, sugar 15 ml, soy sauce 45 ml, mirin 60ml

How to cool

1, Cut the pork into 5 to 6 cm cubes. With skin. Cut ginger 2 to 3 cm slices.

2, Heat the fry pan to high heat, and put in pork and ginger and sear.

3 put the pork and ginger in a pot and fill in water. Boil 1 hour. If you have green onion, put in because green onion makes good flavor.

4 Throw water and fill in new water, and put in sugar, spy sauce, mirin, sake.

5 Boil , and turn the heat to low, 1 hour.

6 make teriyaki sauce. Put remaining boiled water, sugar, sake, soy sauce, mirin in a pan and boil.

メンチカツ(menchi-katu)= minced meat cutlet

Preparation
              (A): minced beef, chopped onion, nutmeg , pepper, soy sauce
              (B): flour, beaten egg, bread crumbs(panko)
               Oil,
              Original sauce: soy sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise

How to cook

1;  put (A) in the bowl, and mix it.

2; Separate into, then with the palm of your hand, pound out the air pockets.

   Shape to form ovals.

3; Coat the meat with (B), flour, egg, bread crumbs.

4; Heat the frying oil to between 170 and 180 degrees, then put the meat in. After it cook for a while, turn it over and fry till golden brown.

5; Let the oil drip off!! that all!!

Okonomiyaki お好み焼き

I had home party today.　New roommate came to our house.

We had welcome party!!

I cooked お好み焼き.

It is traditional Japanese food.

I use special flour and sauce.

Very easy to cook.

preparation: flour, egg, some water, chopped cabbage, chopped green onion, okonomi sauce,                          mayonnaise, thin pork
                 If you have red ginger, mix it.

Put in flour, egg, water, chopped cabbage, chopped green onion and mix.

Saute in fry pan, top on the thin pork, and saute both side 

                      　　　　　　　　

We have two kinds of okonomiyaki. I cooked Kansai taste okonomiyaki.

Next time I will cook Hiroshima taste okonomiyaki!!

チキン南蛮 Chicken nanban

I like cooking.

I cook Japanese food.

I love Chicken nanban. It's better than karaage.

How to cook Chicken nanban

Preparing
 Chicken, egg,
 seasoning: flour, sake, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, mirin,mayonnaise, pepper


1 cook two kind of sauce
  ・sweet vinegar sauce
   1) Put 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp mirin in a bowl and mix.
   2) Put in micro wave and warm 1 minute.

　・tarutaru sauce
   1) boil egg
   2) mix egg, mayonnaise, pepper

2 Cut breast chicken and mix 1 tbsp sake.

3 Coat with flour

4 Saute in fry pan both side.

5 Put in sweet vinegar sauce

6 Top the tarutaru sauce.  That's all!!

Japanese kairo

My friend sent Japanese products !! Thank you~~!!

Many kinds of my favorite food!! and She send me kairo for me for keeping warm.

Most Japanese use kairo in winter.

It is a packed iron-power product.

The iron-power is reacted to the oxygen, the product will get warm.

You shake that about 5,6 times before you use it.

Be careful to do not break it.

This is so simple, low price, and easy to carry so that is very convenient Lol

How t o make tonkotu ramen

I tried making ramen.

Most important for ramen is making soup.

I bought pork bone at H mart.

1: boil the bone for 30 minutes.

2: throw all water

3: fill in clean water in the pot and boil it for 6 hours.

4: put in salt, soy sauce, miso, a little milk

5: boil ramen

6: put in green onion, pork, etc.

Making ramen is easy, but I needed to boil for more than 6 hours.

different job culture

I met American friend today.

He works finance company, and we talked about job.

Japanese company system is different from American company system.

1: Most Japanese do not change the company. They work for about 40 years until they retire.
   Most American change their job for improving.

2: Getting older, getting high salary in Japan.
   In USA, if they have good job ability, wage becomes high.

3: All Japanese company have labor union. All employee need to join labor union.
   Only low wage company have labor union.

They have more different system.

I was surprised at American labor system.

So many countries, so many customs.

Kimono

Recently, I miss Japan. I have been to Boston for three month. I used to live in Boston. I study

 English and finance everyday, so I want to take a rest. After two week later, I have winter 

holiday!! I will go to NY, South America. I will not go back Japan. However, I miss Japan. In Japan, 

I sometimes wear kimono. 

Kimono is traditional Japanese national costume worn with a sash, or obi.

It is principally made of wool, cotton and silk.

Nowadays young people wear the kimono less frequently and only for special occasion, such as 

the New Year's day, or wedding receptions.

even though it's beautiful to look at, the kimono does not allow 

much freedom of movement and is quite expensive compared 

to Western clothes.

I miss kimono. When I wear the kimono, I have good posture.

I miss Karaoke!!!

When I lived in Japan, I went to Karaoke every weekend. I like singing. I like Karaoke.

There are few Karaoke in Boston.　Moreover, It's so different from Japanese Karaoke.

In USA, they don't have private room. If I want to sing a song, I need to sing in front of

everybody. I can not be relax!! I used to use Karaoke as a relax room. They have many kinds of

foods and drinks like restaurant, so we can enjoy Karaoke with eating and drinking.

There are many kinds of karaoke room.

This room is lighting room.

This is cute room. Many women like this room .

This is restaurant room. Japanese use this room when they have group blind date Lol

Some people go to Karaoke alone.

This is a single room. You can record your voice. I have never tried this room.

In Tokyo, they have many Karaoke.

There are some Japanese stores in Boston.
My favorite stores are Hmart and Ebisuya.

I went to Hmart today. There are many kind of seasoning.

I have recommended Japanese seasoning.

Recommended soy sauce is

It is famous in Japan. Japanese traditional soy sauce.

Recommended noodle soup is

This is my best seasoning. When you cook udon, soba, fried rice etc , you can use. 

One more recommended one is 

I could not find recommended mirin.

My recommended dry noodles are

This is the traditional dry noodle. I am very glad to find it.

The story is about after gone Samurai. In Meiji Period, there are no Samurai because Japanese culture had changed. However, some samurai exist. They fight using katana. It's a story about samurai passion.  I like this manga.

Dragon ball(rank 17)

People seek Dragon ball. If you can get dragon ball, the Dragon appear in front of you. You say a wish anything to Dragon, your wish comes true. Many people try to find Dragon ball and fight.

It's  incredibly battle, so funny.

GTO (rank 20)

GTO means " Great Teacher Onizuka"

This teacher, his name is Onizuka, was delinquent boy when he was high school student. 

However, he got licence of teacher, and he instructs. In the high school, there are many bad boys and girls. They don't believe teachers because they have complains about education system. 

Onizuka changes education system for students, and they have good relationship between teachers and students. This story is so comical. 

I was very surprised because CONAN is not rank in. CONAN is super popular manga in Japan.

This boy is high school student and great detective. However, he change young body because　villain gave him medicine. He seek villain and play active as young detective.

In the USA, Conan is popular comedian, same name Lol

In USA, it is hard to find Japanese manga, but I usually buy by kindle (^^♪

The keyword of contest for 2016 in Japan

The keywords of the year contest for 2016 was held recently in Japan, and the winner have been announced.

Every year, the keywords of the year contest is held end of the year in Japan.

This years winner keyword is 「神ってる」 kamitteru

Kamitteru means being prossessed by superhuman behabior or suppernatural spirit. In short, it means "awesome like god"

Why kamitteru is popular in this year?

The reason is

This year, one baseball team in Japan had heroic victory. One player(Seiya Suzuki) hit a home run for the second straight day in June and manager called his outstanding perfomance "kamitteru"
